Hucksters

Hucksters are one of the standard features of Swancons, and most other conventions as well (where they are frequently referred to as Dealers). Most convention organisers will find themselves torn between having a full-time hucksters room (benefits: less hassle for the hucksters, happier litfans) and only running it for part of the convention (benefits: better utilisation of space, happier otherfans). You can find some opinions on the importance on the Swancon Livejournal community (which is spillover from another journal).

The term Hucksters is fannish jargon, and the term should not be used on any official material, or in discussion outside purely fannish circles. Dealers is a much more appropriate term.
