Dealers

Dealers and the dealers' room are one of the standard features of Swancons, and most other conventions as well. Most convention organisers will find themselves torn between having a full-time dealers' room (benefits: less hassle for the dealers, happier litfans) and only running it for part of the convention (benefits: better utilisation of space, happier otherfans). You can find some opinions on the importance on the Swancon Livejournal community (which is spillover from another journal).

Dealers are sometimes called hucksters, but this is fannish jargon, and the term should not be used on any official material, or in discussion outside purely fannish circles.
