Simon Petrie is a speculative fiction writer based in Canberra, Australia. He is predominantly recognised as a writer in the science fiction and fantasy genres. <ref>http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/ea.cgi?Simon%20Petrie</ref>

In 2010, he won the Sir Julius Vogel Award (New Zealand SF Award) for Best New Talent.<ref>http://sffanz.sf.org.nz/sjv/sjvResults-2010.shtml</ref>

In 2010 his first collection of short stories was published, Rare Unsigned Copy: tales of Rocketry, Ineptitude, and Giant Mutant Vegetables by Peggy Bright Books.

Petrie's stories have appeared in a number of Australian publications including Borderlands, Aurealis and Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine.<ref>http://editormum.livejournal.com/225460.html</ref> He is also a member of the Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine collective, editing issues 35 and 40.
