The '''Norma K. Hemming Award''' is presented for "excellence in the exploration of themes of race, gender, sexuality, class and disability: in the form of science fiction and fantasy or related artwork or media".
The Award was not presented in 2017. Instead, it was announced that as of 2018 there would be two categories, Long Work and Short Fiction, and that works from both 2016 and 2017 would be eligible in the introductory year.

* 2018 Long Work: Claire G. Coleman for ''Terra Nullius''
* 2018 Short Fiction: Foz Meadows for "Coral Bones" (in ''Monstrous Little Voices'')
* 2019 Long Work: Sam Hawke for ''City of Lies'' and Rivqa Rafael and Tansy Rayner Roberts for ''Mother of Invention''
* 2019 Short Work: Stephanie Gunn for "Pinion" (in ''Aurum'')
