It implies (but does not state) that this was the National Media Convention. (Actually, Constantinople, held 1-4 April 1994 in Melbourne, had been the National Media Science Fiction Convention, but "Confusion 96" had won the right to be the National Media Convention for 1996.)
==History==
Prior to Sylvia Anderson being announced as Guest of Honour, Gerry Anderson was to have been Guest of Honour, subject to confirmation.

This the first con at which the Nullabor post was auctioned. This was was bought by Ruth Turner, Rachel Turner, James King, and Michael Baker for a mere token price (possibly $70), with the money going to either SwanCon or WASFF [Ruth Turner]

The anime video stream at this convention was run by JAFWA [add link]. This was the first time that an official anime stream, rather than a late night anime event occurred [detail to be check with Tom Edge or Dale Verdi] [info: Ruth Turner]

There were AV problems: nobody had provided a working slide projector. Lewis Morley, Marilyn Pride and Nick Stathopoulos had to present a slide show of their GUFF trip via overhead projector, which meant the slides showed tiny on the screen and everybody had to huddle around.
